Yet another Task - Blog comment by lkessler - 31 Aug 2008

I should mention that this is not all bad. The fact that executables are not allowed on IXWebhosting's Windows servers does mean that their servers are a little more secure, and have less potential for performance issues due to incorrectly programmed custom code.

PHP Timezones - Blog comment by lkessler - 27 Aug 2008

That's an interesting looking system that I had overlooked. It's much cheaper than IP2location, but it still is not free. If getting the timezone or location was a service I really needed for my product, then I would definitely consider World Time Engine. But for the purposes of adding one extra little ...

New Website Pages and Version 0.98.9.8 alpha - Blog comment by lkessler - 15 Aug 2008

The WordPress community seems to be exploding! It has a great following and may be poised to "take over the world". It's definitely a technology that's worth learning. If you do get around to reviewing Behold, let me know as I'd love to add a link to your review at the bottom of Behold's home page. p.s. ...

Coming Soon: A New Home for Behold - Blog comment by lkessler - 11 Dec 2007

Thanks. Yes, I mentioned to the designer that the smaller text may cause problems to people like you and me. :-) Originally, it was designed with that font as a fixed size. But I've changed it to variable so at least you can change your font size if you need to. But I think I will increase the default size just ...

I ended up simply hardcoding that domain into my automated sending script. For now, it seems to be the only domain that is managing to "press" the download button. If this becomes a major problem with multiple domains and IP addresses, then I will have go back and try to get a verify-email script working.Louis

... and I decided to make Notepad the default, as you suggested.I actually didn't do it because of possible problems with Wordpad. But I did it because clicking on the Log icon will bring up a new Notepad window with a refreshed log. A new window is not opened for Wordpad, and you have to close the opened ...

Thinking more about this, it might be best to still make the GEDCOM viewing possible, but make it less obvious. Maybe I'll move that function to the GEDCOM page of the Organize Window. I'll change the GEDCOM icon become a "find files" function, which will be useful to everyone.Louis

Herb:Well, I never planned on adding a capability to edit GEDCOMs directly. Those things are horrible to manually edit. The real purpose is just to view it if there is some reason to. In my case, I look at it all the time to make sure that Behold is displaying the GEDCOM constructs correctly. But I guess 99% of ...

I know I do still have some clean-up to do in the way some of lines are printed, but I can't tell from your description if what I'm thinking of is what you're seeing. If you want I can take a look at it if you don't mind sending me your GEDCOM and pointing out where the extra spaces are occurring.Louis
