I have some ancestors from the 1700's who were married more than once having children with each spouse and then the children were adopted/blended into one family. I noticed on my file, that one of these families showed that a child was a member of one of the families (he died shortly after birth). This child had a younger brother who does not show up under the biological dad, but does show up under the adopted father.
