I have been making good progress towards 0.98. I’ve squeezed in a few code changes that are invisible on the outside, but will make Behold easier to maintain and update in the future with regards to the referencing structures. Obviously, I did not get these changes out in September like I hoped, but I’m now working with next weekend as my goal.

One of my pastimes that I don’t mention anywhere on my website is that I am a regular squash player. I play three times a week against a large number of different noon hour players at a fairly good level of play. At about 6 to 7 games a day, that totals about 1000 games of squash a year, and I’ve been doing this regularly for over 12 years. It’s great for both fitness and stress relief, and doing it at lunchtime minimizes my time away from my family. Because of my unwillingness to take family time away, I have never entered a squash tournament … up until this weekend.

Our club put an informal tournament on from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. yesterday and today (Saturday and Sunday). Since my family usually doesn’t get up until 11 a.m. on weekend, this was the first tournament that wouldn’t impose too much.

At any rate, among the 22 competitors which included 3 of the top-10 players in Manitoba, I ended 2 and 2 and was very happy with my play. The pizza and drinks and comraderie were good too. I’m now glad I just missed winning that 4th match, because I was on the long end of the draw and I might have had to play a 5th and 6th. I don’t know if my body could have taken that. It certainly would have made sitting at the computer tonight a much more difficult task.
