This day’s commentary is not regarding something influencing my work on Behold, but sometimes hardware and software problems do occur outside my computer, but the need to spend time on them reduces my time available for Behold. Here were two strange occurences, part of life:

Our minivan started having some terrible groaning noises coming from its frame: sort of like the Titanic sinking in the movie. I took it to the shop and they found the whole frame covered in a huge layer of ice. It’s been 25 below zero Celsius here for a few weeks, and we must have driven it through the open water of a watermain break and it instantly froze on contact with the bottom of the car. Once thawed, all was fine.

With that solved, we come home and pressing our garage door opener our neighbor’s garage door opens and not our own!!! Phoned Sears 1-800 number and they figure some electromagnetic interference has reset the openers. Could that be? Get out the manuals and go to my neighbors. His program light is on (the one that indicates it is programming the remote) and won’t turn off, even after we unplug it and plug it in again. We figure there is some kind of short in his opener preventing it from shutting off. When we pressed our remote, it got reprogrammed and opened his door. Strange but true!
