This was a tough bug to track down: Whenever a section was sorted by surname, there was an extra line at the beginning of the section describing the last person of the previous section. It took four days until I resolved this.

I had to disassemble a routine I used to re-sort by surname. Somehow, for the starting line of a section, the link to the individual was not being defined in the re-sort, so it used the person who was last encountered. Once I defined the person, all was fixed.

But this bug did not show up in version 0.98.8. That version worked fine. The really strange thing is that I don’t know why that version worked. It should have failed as well. I just cannot see what was “right” with that version that allowed this bug to hide under the covers. It might remain as a mystery to me.
