I’ve now talked to 5 different people at Hewlett Packard. We tried 10 different things over the phone but the problem is still there. I may have to send my computer to Toronto. They maintain that they will fix it in 3 to 5 business days. It will go there and back by UPS at no expense to me.
I might just do that, but before I do, I’ll see if I can get my old Windows 98 computer running again. Then I can use that in the interim. I’ve been copying all my files to my daughter’s machines (in between random shutdowns), and will be able to resync my old machine with my latest files. Once the new one is fixed and returned to me, I’ll be able to resync it from my old machine. If this works out, I should have very little down time (other than the days I’ve lost while fuddling around with all this).
My Behold development schedule is going to take a big hit. But hopefully it will work out for the better in the long run. Computers: Need em, love em, but they’re so frustrating sometimes!
