One of the third-party packages I use for Behold’s main report window, called RichView, has upgraded to a new version. In this version, the Print Preview is said to be fixed to render the image of the printout much more accurately. This is great to hear, since the old Print Preview looked very bad with text often running outside the edge of the printed page. I had spent a fair bit of time a year ago researching other possible options - other packages, modifications to the code, my own enhancements, and alternative preview methods to try to come up with something that would be acceptable. That was something I would have had to tackle in a few months from now, but with these announced improvements, I might not have to.
Next chance I get, I’ll have to download the new version and try it out, especially for the print preview enhancements. It does warn that the print preview is a bit slower than before. I’ll have to ensure that the performance is acceptable when I try it.
I don’t download updates to my packages at every opportunity. It is not always easy to integrate the new version, and I do have several customizations I have to make each time, to enact changes that I need to the product. I usually wait until the update is stable or there is a new or improved feature I can use.
But this version is important, and I’ll go get it and try it as soon as I can. Then I can give feedback to the author and he might be able to make some changes I might also be able to use.
