Adding the extra field added more complications than expected. Three days of work and there’s still little things that worked before that don’t work now with the changes. Much of the code had to be changed to use this field instead of the GEDCOM number field, but not all of it. In addition, a maximum GEDCOM number had to be maintained to prevent old numbers from being reused. I don’t know if I like this. I think I’ll try the other method.
