Behold Version 1.2.1 - Wed, 23 Mar 2016

I just released a new version of Behold which contains lots of little adjustments and fixes to the display of facts that was finalized in Version 1.2.  I recommend you upgrade when you get a chance.

Unless you had the old version 1.2 running alongside, you might not even think that anything is changed. But there were a number of less common relationships and consistency checks that just weren’t displayed as they should have been. It’s all tighter and works better now. But I know there are a lot of special cases, so if you notice anything that doesn’t seem right, please let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

I was hoping to get everything I wanted in Version 1.3 at this time. Unfortunately, a bad bug that could cause an infinite loop if the wrong registration key is entered, made me decide to expedite this release.

There’s some very interesting things I’m working on (including some useful DNA info for you that I don’t think any other program has included yet – and I’ll talk about those in future blog posts.

What’s immediately next on my agenda is to get my Behold News newsletter going again. It’s been over 4 years since I sent the last one.

I was having problems with my bulk SMTP mail provider and the way the newsletter worked with them. I’ve now found a better solution, and I’ll see if I can get it going over the weekend.

The way to sign up for the Behold News newsletter is from the Behold download page. In August 2014, I changed the default check box for receiving Behold News to be unchecked so as to conform to Canada’s anti-spam legislation. When you request a trial key you can request being added to the newsletter mailing list. To do so, you have to actually check the box to opt-in.

The requirement to opt-in makes sense. People need to show some interest and checking a box is the minimum requirement. What has resulted is that of the last 1,000 people to try Behold, only 250 checked the box and subscribed. So only those 250 (and others who were on my list from earlier) will get the next Newsletter.

If you’re reading this and want to make sure you’re on my Behold mailing list, go to the Behold download page and just request another Behold trial key. You don’t even have to use the key. But just make sure you check the box, and you’ll get my newsletters. If you later change your mind, every newsletter has a link at the bottom for you to unsubscribe.
