I had a cousin in from out of town who was also into Genealogy. The program he has always used is Family Tree Maker and he is quite proficient with it. So I thought it would be nice to sound off on him about Behold and my ideas that other programs like Family Tree Maker don’t let you get the data out and able to be used. Case in point: My cousin bought a laptop, specifically so that he could take his genealogical information with him and access it wherever he needs to. I found that remarkable - that he had to start the program before he could see his data … and even then he could only see little bits at a time.

So I showed him Behold, and he had trouble reacting because it really seemed so foreign to him. I know that I wouldn’t be able to work the way he does. I want my hard copy in front of me.

Of course, showing him Behold, the inevitable happens. A little bug where I couldn’t filter out all families so that I could just show his relatives. After he left, it took me a half an hour to find out what this was. I had the loop checking for selected families one level off when numbering by GEDCOM and then families. Now that’s fixed.
